The Columbia Gorge AVA is gaining recognition as a notable growing region on both the Oregon and Washington sides. Pear Blossom Vineyard sits on Washington's Underwood Mountain, with a south-facing slope at 1,200-1,300 feet elevation. The 18-acre site includes 16 acres planted with both vines and pear trees, hence the name. Like all our vineyard sources, it's dry farmed. Without irrigation, the vines are forced to push their roots deeper into the earth, traveling through layers of soil strata. This deeper root system draws more complex flavors from the land, giving the wines a clearer expression of place—true terroir.
