Montebuena is the name of one of the best quality areas of Labastida. It is located in the eastern part of the village and covers more than 160 hectares (395 acres). Made from 100% Tempranillo grown on 20-25 year old vines, the grapes are hand harvested before aging 3-4 months in new French oak semi-crianzas.
The wine begins with an inviting aroma of raspberry, black cherry, spice, red licorice, and a little vanilla. A sip reveals a soft, smooth and tasty medium-bodied wine with great balance. Nothing is over the top, it all just works together really well. Tart fruit, fine tannins and gentle touches of spice build on the mid-palate and lead into the dry finish. This is good stuff, especially at this price. Try with paella, roasted duck or grilled vegetables.
