One of Australia’s oldest wineries, Seppeltsfield was founded by Joseph & Johanna Seppelts in 1851. After trying to grow tobacco, the estate pivoted to wine grapes in the 1860s. After a few changes in ownership over the years, Warren Randall took control of the winery in 2013.
A dry, aromatic, minerally Riesling, with grapes from Seppeltsfield’s plantings in the Watervale sub-region of Clare Valley, South Australia. Vines up to 80 years-old grow on dark brown clay loam over siltstone & slate. Fermented in steel & bottled shortly after to preserve freshness & vibrancy.
Aromatic lime leaf, lemon, granny smith apple, green pear, candied orange peel, and delicate jasmine blossom. The fruit is pure, without too much petrol, & a lovely talc-laced minerality. Nicely dry, with a great racy acidity & mouthwatering finish.
Riesling.
