"Red Rabbit" Pinot Noir is a dry red wine produced in Germany, in the picturesque Rheinhessen region. The 2021 harvest in the region was distinguished by uniform ripening of berries, which was made possible by balanced weather conditions. This contributed to the harmony between the structure and character of the grapes. This wine will be an excellent choice for every day.
The wine is produced by the Balthasar Ress winery as part of the White Rabbit export project, which is part of the Ress Family Wineries association. Interestingly, Red Rabbit became a kind of response to the popular White Rabbit - a light and inexpensive Riesling from the same producer. "White Rabbit" was originally conceived as a democratic and simple Riesling, and "Red Rabbit" became its " dark twin" based on Pinot Noir grapes. In one of the wine reviews by British wine master Alex Hunt , it was "Red Rabbit" that turned out to be among the best Pinot Noirs at the tasting, surprising with the harmony of affordable price and rich wine taste.
The Balthasar Ress winery has a rich history that began in 1870. Today, the family-run company is one of the largest in the Rheingau. The Balthasar Ress vineyards cover 32 hectares. The farm mainly grows Riesling and Spätburgunder varieties. The company's products have received national and international awards, which speak volumes about the high quality and excellent taste of Balthasar Ress wines.
Today the company is managed by the fifth generation, represented by Christian Ress, who created the Ress Family Wineries association. It includes: RESS, J. Bäumer, Villa Franz, White Rabbit, Weinhaus Ress, Pretender. The Ress family also owns the wineBANK wine club chain and Germany's northernmost vineyard on the island of Sylt.
