The Murphy family named their winery Presqu’ile (the French-Creole word for “almost an island”) as a tribute to the beloved Gulf Coast family gathering place that was lost in 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, viewing it as an island-like haven amidst the vines.
The Presqu’ile Vineyard is just 16 miles from the Pacific, with 73 acres of vines, spanning 700-1000 feet in elevation. The deep sandy soils retain heat and provide good drainage for the vines to thrive.
This Pinot Noir brings 60% estate fruit, with the remainder coming from similarly cool-climate friends throughout Santa Barbara County. Aged 11 months in neutral French oak (10% new), with 6 months in stainless steel.
Fragrant notes of cranberry, raspberry, and alpine strawberry, dried orange rind, thyme, bayleaf and green peppercorn, with woodsy forest fruits, dried earthy spice, and hibiscus tea on the palate. Silky and fine on the palate, it’s a fresh, vibrant, and pure expression of cool-climate Pinot Noir.
100% Pinot Noir. Sustainable.
