An Austrian orange wine from natural wine pioneers, Gerhard and Brigitte Pittnauer. Made from grüner veltliner, pinot blanc and chardonnay and fermented in barriques and amphorae, this gets its orange colour and slight tannic grip from skin contact. It is a fresh, vibrant wine, which is at the fun rather than academic end of the orange wine spectrum.
The nose is aromatic and bursting with tropical fruit and blossom notes, along with a twist of orange peel.
The palate has grip but plenty of freshness. The tropical and orange notes continue and are joined by a hint of honey on the finish, though it remains dry. The food matching possibilities are endless here! Bottled unfiltered to preserve flavour, so expect a slight haziness.
