The vines at Picollo Ernesto lie at 260m elevation on the rolling hills surround the town of Gavi. All 9 hectares are dedicated to Cortese, which thrives in the Mediterranean climate, maritime breezes, and challenging soil of southern Piedmont.
Grown on stony clay & rich marl soils, the hand-harvested grapes were gently pressed, then fermented & aged in steel on the lees with no malo.
Fresh & eminently drinkable, with notes of sweet lemon, pulpy pear, honeydew, and apricot. The racy, lively acidity brings a chalky minerality, with a lingering finish that belies its price point.
Cortese.
