"Our first releases under the Constant Crush label, a label that will represent our work with varieties associated traditionally with the region. When we find exceptional sites, clones or are just curious to work in the region we will release wines under this label. This Chardonnay from the 2022 vintage, a vintage that was a return to the cooler later ripening years in the Willamette Valley, is sourced from young vines in one of the coolest AVAs the Eola-Amity Hills and the famed Witness Tree vineyard. The other portion of the fruit came from a diverse clonal selection in
the Chehalem Mountain Vineyard, the first vineyard planted in the this AVA of the same name.
The Chardonnay is whole cluster pressed in a long slow press cycle to extract maximum phenolics the wine is settled overnight and racked to barrels for fermentation with native yeasts, around 35% of the wine was fermented in new Jura forest puncheons to bring maximum lees exposure. The wine remains in barrel and completes full malolactic fermentation in barrel on gross lees. Elevage is for 20 months in barrel on lees bringing a deep mineral drive, nutty lees flavors and a long salty finish to the wine."
