Lazzaroni Nocino is a classic Italian liqueur made from walnuts, and now available in the US market. Walnuts have a supernatural history in Italy. An ancient walnut tree in Benevento was said to be the spot where witches went to cast spells and newly married couples in ancient Rome were showered with the nuts to bring them luck and prosperity. Nocino walnut liqueur also has a history of use in Europe as an herbal medicine.
Lazzaroni Nocino has complex and nutty flavors, coming from the walnuts, balanced perfectly with other botanicals and sugar. It is traditionally consumed as an after-dinner drink like Amaretto or Amaro, but it is also an excellent substitute modifier in cocktails like the Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
