The Pozzesi family has been farming grapes since the 16th century, selling most of the fruit off in bulk. In 1967, they decided to start bottling their own wine, and today the estate is fully organic.
Poggialupi comes from organic, younger-vine Sangiovese & Merlot grown on calcareous & alluvial soils. The varietals are fermented & macerated & aged separately in cement for 12 months, with the final blend coming together 2 months before bottling.
Black cherries, blueberries, red fruits, oregano, & spice, with a long, harmonious finish.
70% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot. Organic.
