The Sperone family got into wine the wine business in 1911, when Antonio Sperone opened a small wine shop in Torino selling bulk wine to the villagers. Unsatisfied with the local quality, he started his own winery in Puglia. In 1965, the family purchased 75 acres of vineyards in Piedmont and built a new winery just outside Monferrato. Over the years, they’ve expanded to making vermouth, sparkling wines and spirits as well.
Hand harvested grapes, macerated for 3 weeks before fermented in stainless steel. Aged in tank for 6 months, it then spends 3 months in bottle before release.
Opening with sweet spice, chocolate and red cherry fruit, the palate evolves to cranberry, raspberry, and strawberry. Lightly floral, hints of tobacco, earth, and cocoa come through before light tannins and a well-balanced acidity. Perfect for pizza, pasta, or just a Tuesday.
