Jérôme Mathieu comes from the oldest wine producing family in Châteauneuf, going back to the 16th century. Grenache is co-planted & co-fermented with the other 12 permitted Châteauneuf grapes in 26 parcels scattered throughout the region. Spontaneously fermented, aged in foudres for 14-16 months.
Classic aromas of lavender, flowers, garrigue, & sandalwood lead to cherry fruit, red berries, potpourri, earth, & leather. Savory notes of sage, cinnamon, & peppery spice envelop the supple, silky texture through the long finish. Old-school Châteauneuf at its best.
80-85% Grenache, 15-20% the 12 other allowed CDP grapes.
