Gaëlle & Jérôme Meunier rented their first parcel, just 2 acres of vines in Bouzeron in 2005. Today, the couple works around 45 parcels totaling 30 acres from Puligny to Rouilly. They farm sustainably, and sell 1/3 of the crop to the local co-op.
Their Mercurey Rouge comes from 2 parcels, totaling about 1.5 acres. Vines average 65 years, and are diligently pruned for perfect ripeness. Destemmed grapes are spontaneously fermented, then aged in barrel (10% new) for 11 months.
Crunchy red cherry, raspberry, & cranberry fruit meets savory herbs, sweet baking spice, creamy toasted oak, & an earthy undertone. Well-structured with good concentration & great purity of fruit.
