All of Vartsikhe Marani’s wines are naturally fermented & aged in qvevri, traditional Georgian clay vessels that have been used in the region for over 8,000 years. After fermentation finishes, the qvevri are sealed & buried underground, where the skins, stems & pips fall to the bottom & the juice floats to the top. In the spring, the qvevri are unearthed, and the wine is then bottled, unfiltered.
This is 25 year-old Saperavi, Georgia’s most important indigenous red grape. Intensely deep in color, Saperavi is one of the few grapes to have red pigment in the pulp of the grape as well as the skin, bringing tons of fruit to the palate. Deep & dark, with tart blackberry & black plum, cracked pepper, spice & vanilla, with big, well-integrated tannins & a lively acidity.
Saperavi. Organic. Natural.
