Vines were originally planted by the Romans over 2000 years ago in the heart of the Côte des Bar. The Drappier family settled in Urville in 1808, and have been crafting beautiful Champagnes from their 62 acres for 8 generations, eventually founding their flagship wine “Carte d’Or” in 1952.
Grapes from a mix of estate & purchased fruit grow on Jurassic Kimmeridgian limestone & chalk, are gently pressed and fermented, with 5% matured in oak casks. 6.5 g/L dosage & very little sulphur added at bottling.
Rich, nutty, & leesy, with golden orchard fruit, white stone fruit, red berries and a touch of quince.
Blanched almond, honeycomb, grated ginger, and white flowers frame a hint of spice on the lively, racy chalky finish.
80% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Meunier. NM. Organic.
