Jacques Lignier purchased the family’s first vines in Morey-Saint-Denis in 1880, where the domaine still exists today under the care of Hubert Lignier and his son Laurent. They now have 9 hectares of vines, mostly in the northern Côte de Nuits, with some newer holdings in Pommard and Nuits Saint Georges.
The Ligniers purchased this 0.34 hectare parcel of 60+ year old vines just beneath the Cailles 1er cru vineyard in 2010. Made from 25% whole cluster, with spontaneous fermentation in open top concrete vats, it then ages 18 months in 20% new 228L barrels.
Deep & precise, with roasted black cherries, violets, game bird, dark soil, bitter chocolate, savory spice, and cedary oak. The core of fruit and lovely soil signature bring ripe tannins and a long, intense mineral-edged finish.
Pinot Noir. Organic.
