This wine is on a very short list of the absolute best values in Chablis. It comes from Eleni et Edouard Vocoret, a young couple who have become as sought-after as any Chablis producer not named Raveneau or Dauvissat. The latter happens to be their mentor, which helps explain their fresh, salty, textured style.
The wine in today’s offer is a one-off bottling. When submitting their Chablis to the powers that be for classification, a tank of their Bas de Chapelot was missed. As a result, they had to label it ‘Vin de France’ without a specified vintage. Nevertheless, it is their ‘21 Chapelot, just aged for an extended period in barrel. We tasted it recently, and it’s lights-out good. Exactly what we’ve come to expect from the Vocorets.
