Richard & Stephane Martin, owners of Croix Senaillet in St. Veran, purchased Domaine du Mont Épin in 2015.
The 50-year old Chardonnay vines grow on stony limestone & clay in 2 gently sloping parcels that flank the hill of Mont Épin, the highest point in the Mâconnais. Hand harvested, destemmed grapes ferment in stainless steel with native yeasts, then age on the lees for 8 months.
The generous palate holds pear, ripe peach, jasmine, honeysuckle, creamy vanilla, & toast. A supple, perfectly balanced white with a superb minerality & vivacious acidity.
