Situated between the Sainte Victore mountain and the Luberon, Chateau Paradis’ vineyards stretch over 80 hectares at the northern end of Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence. Vines were first planted here around 600 BC, when the Phoenicians settled in Marseille.
The vines here flourish on shallow stony & sandy clay-limestone soils over limestone rock that breaks through the surface in some plots. The strong Mistral wind comes down from the Alps, making wines that are well-balanced, fresh, fruity & minerally. They strive for sustainable viticulture, taking the lutte raisonnée approach.
Grapes come from 2 plots, Pommier & Paradis, both averaging 50 years old. Harvest happens in the coolest hours of the night to preserve the aromatic intensity of the grapes. Each variety & plot are pressed & vinified separately, with the blend coming together in early December before bottling.
Fresh, lively, and fruity, with notes of lemon, peach, apricot, passionfruit, and strawberries. The tangy acidity brings subtle spice and white pepper, with a bright, minerally finish.
60% Syrah, 30% Grenache Noir, 10% Vermentino. Sustainable.
