Château Barreyre was built in 1774 by Nicolas Barreyre, but vines had grown on the property for may years prior. While the 22 acre petit château is in Haut-Médoc, near Macau, the wines are only allowed the term “Bordeaux Supérieur” due to its proximity to the Gironde River.
From 9 hectares of vines grown on gravel & clay, which see extremely low yields that lend a concentration not often seen in BDX Supérieur. Fermented in steel, then aged in steel and barrique (1/4 new).
Ripe & smoky, with notes of black fruits, redcurrant, spice box, and a lemon zest freshness. Ripe, lively tannins and a creamy texture lead to a long, balanced finish.
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
