Established in 1970, Brokenwood Wines began as a weekend hobby for a trio of Sydney-based solicitors, and has become a benchmark producer in Hunter Valley.
The heavy clay soil results in low yields, but extraordinary concentration of flavor. Chilly wind from the south Pacific lowers temperatures in Hunter Valley, just north of Sydney, allowing the grapes to retain a vibrant, zippy acidity when picked early. The hand harvested grapes were crushed, chilled, and immediately pressed before aging in stainless steel, with no malo.
Crisp & bright, lovely florals and lemongrass open with lemon basil and pear aromas. Green lime, pineapple sorbet, lemon pith and beeswax, with a zesty acid backbone and lingering citrus. Light in body, but rich in flavor, it can easily be enjoyed now, but will develop creamy honey & toasty notes if cellared.
100% Semillon. Sustainable.
