This Loureiro wine was sourced from Rui Paiva, the nephew of Biodynamic producer Fernando Paiva. Rui owns 4 hectares of mostly 20-year-old vines in the Vinho Verde area of Felgueiras. The harvest was a family affair, with Rui, his 80-year-old father, and his nephew all participating. The grapes were carefully handpicked and placed in 20kg boxes before being transported 7km away to the Bojo do Luar cellar by a small pickup truck. Due to limited space, only 38 boxes could fit in the truck at a time, thus inspiring the name of the wine. Once at the cellar, the grapes were destemmed and transferred into 100-year-old, 1.100L amphoras where they were foot-stomped. To each amphora, 1kg of ground chestnut flowers was added and mixed in immediately. The fermentation occurred spontaneously after four days and lasted for three weeks.
This product offers a flavor profile of cooked apple, pineapple, and pear with a rosy finish.
