Barone Cornacchia is one of the oldest farms in Teramo, granted to the family at the end of the 16th century along with the Baron title. The estate was used as a hunting reserve until the family moved to the estate in the late 19th century.
Barone Filippo Maria Vizzarro Cornacchia planted ancient clones on to American rootstock after the phylloxera epidemic, and is considered a pioneer in aging & bottling fine Montepulciano.
Casanova comes from hand-harvested grapes grown on chalky soils strewn with stones. Macerated on the skins for 5-6 days in steel, then aged in 30hL Slavonian oak casks for 6-8 months, plus another 3 months in bottle.
Dark, moody, and complex, with notes of red cherries, plum, bramble berries, bark, herbs, and spice. The silky texture brings fine tannins, and notes of mocha to the long, floral finish.
