Inspired by memories of childhood holidays in Central Otago, John Darby was convinced the region was the perfect for cool-climate viticulture, and founded Amisfield in 1988. With a hands-off philosophy, the wines have an exceptional purity, intensity, & vibrancy.
Grapes from 10-18 year old vines were cold soaked & mostly destemmed (10% whole cluster), then left on the skins after fermentation. Aged 15 months in 20% French oak.
Layers of black plums, small brambly berries, plush red fruit, dry herbal & floral notes, framed by a hint of oak spice, incense & pepper. The terroir-expressive minerality & sleek tannins lead to a vibrantly crunchy finish.
Pinot Noir. Organic.
