Battle Creek Cellars was founded in 1998 on a foundation of rugged elegance, to make simple, approachable wines with a transparency of terroir. The winery was originally a processing facility for Oregon-grown hazelnuts. Winemaker Sarah Cabot worked at Omero Cellars, Willakenzie Estate, and Belle Pente Vineyards before joining Battle Creek, and plays full-contact football for the Oregon Ravens.
Unconditional comes from grapes harvested at Battle Creek Vineyard and other hand-selected vineyards throughout Willamette Valley. Long, sunny days tempered by cool coastal breezes & soils from ancient sea beds create the ideal environment for Pinot Noir. Aged 8 months in mostly French oak, 10% new.
Lively & bright, with aromas of red plum & autumn leaves, lavender & boysenberry. The palate brings Bing cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, toasted marshmallow, and tobacco framed by soft tannin & a slaty acidity.
