Karl Fritsch made his first wine at the age of 24, and took over the family estate 7 years later, in 1999. He has gradually turned the domaine into a minimal-approach winery, becoming a founding member of Respkt-Biodyvin in 2005, and fully converting to biodynamic methods in 2006.
Located in Wagram, 60km west of Vienna, this area was once an ancient shoreline of the Tethys Ocean. Calcium-rich deposits are covered by sand & chalky-loess soils pushed down from ancient glacier movement.
Fritsch’s “Zeit” label, meaning “time” in German, was inspired by the strange, slow passage of time during 2020. Grüner Veltliner grapes see 14 days on the skins, are pressed, then spontaneously ferment in old Stockinger barrels for 7 months, before bottling, unfined & unfiltered.
Crisp & mouthwatering, with notes of peach, pear, apricot, pepper, and flowers. The mellow texture & subtle tannins from the skins nicely contrasts the mineral crunch & clean finish.
Grüner Veltliner. Biodynamic. Organic. Natural. Orange.
