Matija Žerjav (aka Matic) is the 3rd generation of family winemakers in Štajerska, near the borders of Austria & Hungary. His 9 hectares are farmed using organic & biodynamic methods.
Piccolo is a piquette made using the same techniques passed down through his family for generations. Piquette is made from adding water to the second pressings of grape pomace (the dense clumps of grape skins, seeds, stems, & pulp that remain after the juice is pressed off the wine), and fermenting the resulting sugars. Low in alcohol, it’s often enjoyed by vineyard workers & their families.
Fizzy and sublimely drinkable, Piccolo is filled with notes of black cherry, raspberry, bramble berries, pine, and orange zest. Perfect for an afternoon at the beach or on your patio or rooftop.
