The name "Kapnios," meaning "smoked,' refers to the withering of grapes of the first amarone-style wines, mentioned by Plato and Pliny the Elder, in ancient Greece. The drying of the grapes provides the style's distinctive smokiness. Fermented in steel, given 24 months in French oak, and another year in the bottle. Superlative blueberry, tobacco, blackberry notes with a lush, velvety texture.
