Lumen crafts cool-climate wines from sustainable vineyards in Santa Barbara County. The first independent female winemaker in SBC, Lane Tanner got her start working with iconic wineries like Konocti, Zaca Mesa, and Hitching Post, where she developed her graceful, old-world style of winemaking.
For “Hey Ginger”, she adds fresh ginger root to Goodchild Vineyard Chardonnay to act as a natural antioxidant, minimizing the need for any additional sulfur. The ginger is added during fermentation in steel, and stays through full malo & 4 months of aging in neutral oak, finally removed just before racking & bottling.
Bright & flinty, racy & vibrant, with notes of sweet cream, green apple, honeydew melon, kiwi, & lime. An energetic & precise wine.
