Jean-Marie Castell runs the small estate of Domaine Lafran-Veyrolles, originally founded in 1405, and owned by the same family since 1651. The hills of the Cadière d’Azur protect the vines, which benefit from the cool breezes of the maritime climate. With just 10 hectares of vines on the famous red clay soil of Bandol, they work with low yields, organic viticulture, and natural winemaking, with very little added sulphur dioxide.
Made in a combination of saignée from the Mourvèdre and pressed grapes, the fermentation is temperature controlled for 3 weeks before 6 months in cuve.
Fresh, fruity, and floral, with soft raspberry, roses, mulberry, peaches, and tangerine. Warm southern herbs and white pepper spice frame a bracing acidity and structured salinity on the palate.
70% Mourvèdre, 15% Grenache, 15% Cinsault. Organic.
