Kelley Fox started making wine at Oregon icon Eyrie Vineyards, and that influence clearly shows in her eponymous label, which she started in 2007. She views winemaking as responding to the essence of the fruit from each block, and treats each year, vineyard, and block separately, preferring a low-intervention style and biodynamic methods.
Grapes for this skin-contact PG comes from Jim & Love Maresh’s polycultural farm in Dundee Hills, planted on Jory soils 500-700 feet above sea level. The vines are surrounded by hazelnut, walnut, and Royal Anne cherrie trees, with plenty of wild areas nearby. The destemmed fruit fermented spontaneously on the skins. After a gentle press of the skins, the free run & pressed juice were combined with full malolactic fermentation.
Floral aromas of hibiscus, juicy strawberries, raspberries, and petrichor. The palate is savory & earthy, with juicy red apple, cumin, dewy rose petal, quince paste, watermelon, and white pepper. Structured & powerful, yet refreshing, fine, and silky.
100% Pinot Gris. Natural. Biodynamic.
