Franco Serra is owned by the Sperone family, who have been producing thoughtfully-crafted, affordable wines across Italy for generations. They have 75 acres of vines in Piedmont.
This 100% Nebbiolo comes from 25 year old vines grown on lime and chalk soils. The grapes are hand harvested and see 3 weeks of skin contact before fermentation in stainless steel. The juice then ages in large oak barrels (20% new) for 6 months, with another 3 months in bottle prior to release.
Aromas of dried fruit and herbs usher in notes of pretty red fruit, black olive tapenade, beeswax, and thyme. The structured, soft, approachable tannins join a crisp minerality and lingering blueberry finish.
