Jean-Marc and Sophie Autran of Domaine de Piaugier crafts honest, traditional Côtes-du-Rhône and Gigondas. The winery is located near the village of Sablet, in the same cellars Jean-Marc’s great-grandfather built in 1947. After a few expansions, they now own 30 hectares of vines in Gigondas, Sablet, and Côtes-du-Rhône.
La Grange de Piaugier is their entry level wine—quintessential old-school Côtes-du-Rhône, a field blend of 20-45 year-old classic Rhône varietals from sandy-loamy clay soils.
Grapes are destemmed, then fermented with native yeasts & aged in concrete tanks for 6012 months before bottling, unfined & unfiltered.
Brimming with red cherries & berries, black pepper, tea leaves, and herbs de Provence, it’s wonderfully concentrated, balanced, and full of finesse.
Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Carignan. Organic.
