The Paly family has run Domaine Chantepierre since the end of the 17th century. Today they have 65 hectares of vines in Tavel, Lirac, and Côtes du Rhône.
The 35 year old vines grow on soils mixed with rolled pebbles, clay, and limestone. After a long 48-72 hour maceration on the skins, the grapes go through 10-15 day fermentation at low temperatures, before aging in steel.
Ripe & juicy, but bone dry, with notes of cherries and wild strawberries, red currant, cherry sorbet, red tea, and rose petal. The delicate tannins bring a subtle mineral edge to the long finish. A perennial favorite.
