Angelo Fongoli is the 4th generation to make wine at the family estate, originally founded by Angelo’s great-great-uncle, Decio, in the early 1900s. In the 1980s, the family turned the polycultural estate into a near monoculture, focusing almost solely on wine grapes. During his tenure, Angelo has diligently worked on bringing back a more diverse farming culture based on biodynamic principles. Today the estate has 40 hectares of vines, vineyards, olive trees, forest, and natural truffle groves. The vineyards span 23 hectares, all dedicated to traditional grape varieties of the region.
This Vino Rosato comes from 40 year old vines grown on clay/silt soils, high in limestone and organic substance. The bunches are hand-harvest early, then destemmed. The free-run juice macerates with the skins overnight, with spontaneous fermentation in open steel vats with full exposure to oxygen and no temperature control. The wine ages on the lees in steel for 3 months, with another 3 months in bottle (unfined, unfiltered, with no added sulphur).
Soft and savory, with strawberry, citrus, and exotic fruits. Well-balanced & very drinkable, with a beautiful minerality.
100% Sagrantino. Organic. Biodynamic. Natural.
