Since 1893, several generations of growers have worked the vines, located in the town of Beines. Stéphanie Mosnier is the latest, after joining her parents Sylvain & Monique in 2007. Today their 19 hectares of vines are spread throughout Chablis and Petit Chablis, including 1.6 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards.
This Chablis comes from 13.3 hectares, grown on the region’s famous Kimmeridgian soil, which appeared 70 million years ago. When the ancient sea withdrew, it left behind alternating layers of limestone & clay with fossilized marine organisms.
From vines aged 30-40 years, after press the juice was gravity filled into temperature-controlled enamel or steel vats, then aged on the lees for several months.
Opening with aromas of lemon zest, white flowers, and smoke, the palate is full & bright, with crisp apple, lush peach, and tangy citrus fruits. Stony minerals and a bright, crunch acidity keep it fresh & vibrant through the lovely saline finish.
100% Chardonnay.
