Michel Magnien sold grapes to the local co-op for nearly 30 years until his son Frédéric persuaded him to bottle his own label in 1993. The house has since converted to biodynamic farming and is aging all the wines without the use of new oak.
50 year-old vines grown on calcareous marl bring weight & richness. Mostly destemmed, with about 20% whole cluster included in the fermentation. Aged in 50% cement vats and 50% older French oak for 18 months.
Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, soil, & truffles join a palate of forest berries, black currants, cinnamon, black pepper, and earth. Supple, juicy, dense, and complex.
Pinot Noir. Biodynamic.
