Laura Lorenzo adds "treasure hunter" to her resume, seeking centenarian+ vines from the Parque Natural de Los Arribes del Duero, a small, unsung but dramatic region bordering Portugal. Primarily Juan Garcia with some Tinta Madrid (Tempranillo) and Rufete, and like all Laura's wines the “Camino de la Frontera” is farmed organically, fermented spontaneously, aged several months (12 in this case), and bottled unfined and unfiltered with low sulfur. Definitely a rustic, bosky red here, despite its elegant touch of toasted oak: wild bramble berry & alpine herb; earth & stone. Both compelling and atmospheric.
