Founded in 1970, Castelvero is named for a count who once lived on the hills near Castel Boglione. They focus on quality in the vineyard, and vinify even the smallest sites and lots separately.
Cortese is the grape that made Gavi famous, but this version is from just outside the DOC, closer to Asti, where 25 hectares vines grow on limestone and clay soils. Fermented and aged in steel for 3 months, it sees another 6 months in bottle.
Light and fresh, with green apples, grapefruit, lime, lemon, nectarine, and honey. The refreshingly crisp finish ends with a slightly herbaceous, mineral touch.
